    I wish I had a pond…..for a question such as yours, I would join a group of on-line pond experts and ask more experienced keepers. There are many out there who would be better suited to answer your question. Good luck…maybe I can sucker my better-half into digging me a huge hole in our yard next year……..ponds are so beautiful.

    koi pond huh? just make sure no fish will be ****** in the pump…there’s nothing you can do about the plants… they’re doomed unless their stems are way too thick to fit their mouths… PH level? put in blue gouramis or any large gouramis, observe them well every day! if their fins seem to shrivel, change 50% of your water!! that’s just that! save the gouramis, save the pond! hehehe

    to protect the plants put barriers so it will not be destroyed buy a koi that you like and not what the seller told you.
