I have a natural (HUGE) pond full of frogs. I want to add comet goldfish to it, but I don’t know if they would be fine with eachother or if the goldfish will eat the frog eggs? I also want to know if comet goldfish eat algae and if I would need to feed them fish flakes?

i think they would do fine on their own in a natural pond i dont know what they eat in nature but im sure frog egges and tadpoles could be on the menu if readily available its just like releaseing them into nature and they might even breed over time only thing is you might not ever see them again if the pond is that big as your saying

The Goldfish of today originates from wild Asian carps, and all the different Goldfish variations are considered to be the same species: Carassius auratus auratus. The Goldfish was one of the first fish species kept in ponds by man. In China, wild caught carps were kept in outdoor ponds as ornamental fishes and selectively bred until the eventually turned into the first type of goldfish. The ancestor of our modern goldfish is believed to be the Crucian Carp, Carassius carassius.
You can find a wide range of different goldfish types, commonly divided into four main groups. The first group consists of the so called “Ce goldfish” or “Grass goldfish”, the second group contains the fancy “Wen goldfish”, the third group is where you find “Dragon Eye goldfish” with large and protruding eyes, and the fourth group is made up by the “Egg goldfish” that lacks a dorsal fin.
Keeping goldfish in ponds is still very popular, but goldfish are also kept in aquariums. Some of the fancy goldfishes have anatomical features that make life in pond risky for them. They might for instance have a hard time catching food since their eyes are deformed. When you keep goldfish in an aquarium, it is easier for you to make sure that the fish really eats.
Ce goldfish / Grass goldfishIn this group, you will find the original type of goldfish. They are quite similar to their wild ancestors and do not have any fancy features. Wen goldfish Eventually, the breeders managed to produce goldfish with long and flowing tails. Just like the mutated color variations described above, a long and flowing tail would be a problem for the wild carp, but in a protected pond the tail configuration didn’t really matter. One example of a popular Wen goldfish is the aptly named Fantail goldfish. This fish is decorated with a dual-lobed tail that can grow up to 3 inches (7.6 centimeters) in length. A Wen goldfish is always equipped with a fancy tail and a dorsal fin.
Dragon Eye goldfish A Dragon Eye goldfish has eyes that protrude from its head. Two examples of popular Dragon Eye goldfishes are the Telescope Eye goldfish and the Bubble Eye goldfish.
Egg goldfishUnlike the other forms of goldfish, the Egg goldfish is without dorsal fin. The Japanese Ranchu goldfish is one example of a commonly kept Egg goldfish. Sometimes a Bubble Eye goldfish will have no dorsal fin, and thereby be considered an Egg goldfish rather than a Dragon Eye goldfish.

My favorite goldfish are the black moore goldfish.. but I also like the ones with the brain looking think but not te real big $ 30 ones the smaller ones like that. I know I need a bigger tank. Right now i Have a 10 gal. with 2 regular goldfish from a carnival. They are about 2 inches long mayb a little bigger. Goldfish – Good First Pets For Children

Goldfish in a home aquarium can be great pets for kids, particularly for those who have not had the opportunity to care for a living creature before. Why are goldfish such good first pets? First, fish (in general) help children learn responsibility for caring for other creatures but don’t impose the pressure on parents of high maintenance or high cost. Also, fish tend to be quiet, clean and odor-free. Puppies and kittens (for example) are lots of fun, but require much more specialized and individual attention. Until you know how your child will react to owning a pet, fish are a wonderful and affordable first start.
Goldfish are colorful and easy to care for, and take a minimum of work to maintain once your tank is set up correctly. A bonus is that they don’t require a heater in their environment either, as goldfish are a cold water species. Be sure though not to buy a tank that is too small for your goldfish. Goldfish can grow up to twelve inches in length. It is easy to make the mistake of buying a small bowl and then adding too many goldfish. This will only lead to disappointment for your child as they will sicken and die with great frequency. Be sure to ask the consultants at the pet store what size tank will work best for the number of goldfish you wish to care for at one time.
Your first trip to the pet store should be to purchase the tank, and any additional supplies to get your tank set up. It is best to set the tank up at least a few days ahead of time, so that you have properly conditioned the water and readied the environment. Encourage your child to help choose the plants and decorations for the tank. This will reinforce the ownership and responsibility attached to maintaining their fish and the aquarium environment. It is enjoyable to plan and to choose the scenery for your new aquatic neighbors, so don’t rush too quickly to just get some plants and gravel quickly. Enjoy this time with your child. They will likely be eager to buy fish on this visit to the store, so prepare them ahead of time that the first shopping trip is to make a home for the fish, and that then the fish get to come home later when their tank is ready.
Once you are ready to purchase your new goldfish, look carefully to choose goldfish that are healthy and vibrant looking. Avoid fish that are swimming irregularly, have tattered fins, or who have clouded eyes. Once you get the fish home, carefully show your child how to add the new fish to the tank. Teach your kids how much food to feed and how often the fish need to eat. Kids will always tend to overfeed, so it is important to monitor how much food is actually being dispensed, especially at first. Once your children consistently follow the proper feeding pattern, you can then step back a bit and let them thrive in their new responsibility. It is important, though, to regularly provide guidance for other tank maintenance chores, such as cleaning and water levels. Keeping an aquarium is a task the whole family can enjoy!

you will need to buy a small bottle of treatment to put in the tank, i cant remember what the white spots are called but describe them to a petshop and they’ll give the right treatment

Goldfish for pets.

If you are like most folks these days you have had a few Goldfish in your life.
Keeping goldfish as a pet seems to be such a simple thing but as many of us have learned, there can be problems.
One of the first things you have to know is that you can’t place any (living) fish in city tap water. The Chlorine in the water will KILL them. Lots of people have returned to the fish bowl only to find a sad sight.
Their gentle goldfish is floating on its side!
So, here is what you do. If you have time you can pour a large pan or bowl of tap water and allow it to breathe for 24 hours. Make sure that the water is at least the same quantity as the goldfish’s future home.
After breathing for 24 hours, you can then use the water to fill your goldfish bowl.
If you don’t want to wait, pet stores usually sell chemicals that you can place in tap water that will render the chlorine non-toxic.
Naturally, the best time to buy these chemicals is when you buy your Goldfish! You could probably use distilled water from a grocery store.
Please take care when feeding goldfish. Goldfish feed which is readily available at pet stores should be the feed you start with.
You need to feed Goldfish only enough feed as they can eat within a few minutes. Leftover food will cloud the water! And could kill your fish!
Should you ever run out of goldfish food you may substitute oatmeal for a short while. Keep in mind the size of the fish and make sure that you place only enough oatmeal that the goldfish can consume in just a few minutes.
Goldfish will grow in direct relationship to the size of their tank.
So if you want your goldfish to remain small, keep in a small container.
And if you want it to grow large, give it a large home.

I am getting goldfish soon and I was planning on putting them In a goldfish bowl until I was informed that goldfish should always have a 10 +gallon tank. So why is there a goldfish bowl if goldfish can’t live in them?
oh well I already have a betta fish I just wanted a different kind of fish.

Well usually we know a days just say fish bowl, but a goldfish is just the common fish everyone knows so they just name the bowl off the common fish.
